This Giveaway is HOT!

Winner:  Comment #9 - Aimy

Aimy won by commenting:
"the one thing i'm doing to keep cool this summer is living in seattle haha. we don't have hot weather in face right now its super overcast. even was foggy this morning!"

Ya know how when construction workers are digging they sometimes accidentally hit a gas line or a water line?  Well did someone hit a portal to hell, cause ...Holy Cow it has been hot around here. In the 100's.
Yeah, I know, I know, those of you who grew up living right on the equator may be used to it, but just like those of you who grew up in Antarctica, we are not used to extreme hot or cold here in North Carolina.
You can't escape the HOT

I have been looking out of my windows at the grass just growing and growing and growing.  It has grown up into my garden.  And I make no effort to try to clear it out.  I may pass out from heat exhaustion and fall down among those GIANT weeds.  No one will ever know where I disappeared to. It will be Fall before they find me.

I guess the thunderstorms we get EVERY afternoon is what is keeping the grass alive.  It's been raining so much that we STILL haven't done the box of fireworks that we got during the 4th of July weekend.

Do you think the neighbors will think we are nuts when we are finally able to do then in September?

Last night, we thought we would be clear of the worst heat of the day, so we ventured out with the kiddos and my parents to a Durham Bulls baseball game.  You remember the movie Bull Durham don't you?

Even late in the day it was hot, and I was somewhat miserable, but I didn't complain.  Just drives me crazy when someone ruins a good time by complaining.

It was the team mascot's, Wool E. Bull, birthday too, so they had the mascots for all of our state sports there. Phoenix kept calling them puppets, and that was all she was interested in the whole time.  "Mommy, where did the puppets go?"

Did I mention my grandfather, my mom's father, played for the Durham Bulls for a short time?  I tried hard to look it up but I am having a hard time digging up any info.  Not that I am calling my mom a liar, I wouldn't dare, I just wanted to know his stats.

So, how hot was it?  Hot enough to go from this

in a matter of seconds.  He was our only complainer. In his defense, it was a little past his bedtime though.

How is the weather in your area?  I imagine that it is a pretty hot summer for everyone.

To celebrate the HOT of Summer and the fun we are having, I will be having three giveaways this week.

Here's the first one from Kristen, who recently opened up an Etsy shop, My Junk Drawer.  She only has a few items for sale so far, but they are all so cute.

I love these great cases to protect your iphone.  Kristen is offering one lucky Six Cherries on Top reader a chance to win one of these.

This adorable little holder is handmade with cotton fabric.  It has a small pocket on the outside and the main compartment is big enough to hold an iphone, itouch, Droid, or similar sized items.  The outside is a blue floral design and the padded inside is purple.

All you have to do is leave a comment telling me about one thing you are doing to keep cool in this summer heat.

You can also tweet, facebook, and blog for extra entries.  Be sure to leave a separate comment for each entry and a valid email address so I can contact you if you win.

Be sure to stop by My Junk Drawer and take a look.  For an additional two entries, what items would you like to see Kristen add to her shop?

This Giveaway will end at 11:59 (EST) on 08/06/10 and is open to U.S. Residents only.  The winner will be chosen at random via and will be announced here and notified by email.  You must be 18 years or older to enter.

By entering this giveaway you agree to Six Cherries on Top Disclaimer/Terms of use.
